Enterprise Server
The Gravitybox Enterprise Server is an enterprise addition to complement the Gravitybox
Schedule.NET client component. The schedule allows you to build arbitrarily complex
schedules, albeit on only one client machine. The schedule's datasource property
allows it to bind directly to a dataset if desired. This enhances the functionality
of the schedule by allowing you to query a database and have the resulting dataset
configure the schedule. However this does not provide the necessary functionality
to coordinate multiple clients with a centralized database.
To address this issue, we offer the "Gravitybox Enterprise Server" to
allow coordination amongst any number of schedule clients. The is a separate product
that complements the Gravitybox Schedule.NET product. You do not need to purchase
this product if you have no need for multiple client coordination. This is designed
for organizations that are creating distributed applications. If you have multiple,
client applications with scheduling and you wish all of your clients to synchronize,
then you need this product.
The Gravitybox Enterprise Server is a combination of a database and a web service
running together to create a centralized repository for your scheduling information
with global access capabilities. It stores appointment, provider, room, and category
information from schedule clients.
If you already have a Schedule.NET application written and you wish to retrofit
it as an enterprise application, there is very little change involved. To retrofit
an existing application you need only drop a Gravitybox Schedule.NET
controller on a form, add a few lines of code, and recompile. It is that simple.
This product was designed for corporate clients that have definite enterprise needs.
Many companies using the Schedule.NET client are building there own proprietary,
schedule coordination interface. This process takes time and diverts resources from
the main goal of producing a product and getting to out the door. The Gravitybox
Enterprise Server allows you an out-of-the-box solution to add schedule coordination
in less than a day. It greatly enhances the usefulness of the schedule. When this
connection interface is married with the graphical client component, it truly
does offer a standardized technique to create distributed scheduling applications
with a central data repository.
