number of client machines to view and edit. This is much like a doctor’s office. There is
only one master schedule for a whole office but many client computers may be viewing
and editing the schedule at any time. This is one account.
If you have the need to host multiple databases; meaning more than one master
schedule; you might think that you would create another enterprise server connected to
another database; however this is not necessary. The alternative is to setup multiple
accounts on the same enterprise server.
This entails creating separate accounts in the server-licensing tool. After multiple
accounts are setup you will effectively have multiple schedule, each with its own set of
appointments. There is currently no way to share appointments between accounts. This
scenario would be analogous to supporting two doctor’s offices with completely different
staff, patients, and billing. Neither doctor’s office has anything to do with the other office.
For all intents and purposes neither office knows that the other exists. The only
relationship is that both have their scheduling coordinated by the same Enterprise
Server. This actually provides you to ability to host your clients’ schedule from one
Enterprise Server.
When you purchase a server license, its cost is based how many enterprise server
components you will run, the number of accounts on each server, and the number of
clients that will connect to each account. This allows you the flexibility to run multiple
server machines, host any number of accounts per server, and also coordinate a
number of clients to each account and/or server machine. It grants you the freedom to
configure your network in any fashion you deem fit.
Note:
Current the multi-account functionality is not available. All Enterprise Server installations
have exactly one server account and as such have one master schedule. This
functionality is slated to be added in a future version.
